Aftermarket Engine Codes

Does anyone know where I can find information to decode an aftermarket motor. According to the previous owner I have a 350 crate motor purchased from GM but I am not certain that it's true. The original motor was a 305.
It also has an aftermarket tranny that I need to crossreference.
