If you want to put it on the truck you will need a heavy flatdeck. I used to own a 57 Chev 3 ton that would do the job, got rid of the six and put in a 350. But it was not much fun to drive around town. More practical is a good 3/4 ton and a good gooseneck trailer. I have a 78 Chev 3/4 ton 350 V8 4 speed that does the job fine. Our gooseneck stock trailer weighs about 5000 lbs empty and will carry 100 bales of hay or 10 cows or 50 or more sheep. A regular flatdeck would weigh about 2500 lbs and carry a tractor easy. I was told the 73 to 76 Chevs rust. There are lots of good 3/4 tons about. I would prefer one with discs on the front. As others have suggested some of the older stuff is not too swift without a lot of modifications and they don't stop too good. You can run over a lot of things when you have cable brakes. BC Mike C
