I hear lots of stories about motors lasting longer these days than before. Don't know if engineering is better or if the oil is better or what. I do hear lots of mechanics say that keeping up on the preventive maintenance the new car manual says to is the best money spent. Regular oil changes probably have as much to do with it as anything. I suppose as fast as factories run that some motors are bound to be excellent but others are bound to not be perfect and wear out early from being built not quite right. Best guage of how it is doing is to find a reliable mechanic to do a physical on it and tell you if it is time to trade it off or not.
