Spring upgradePosted by JP on October 20, 2002 at 18:50:46 from (166.66.137.85):
I have a 1984 F-150 with factory 4 leaf springs. I use it a lot on the farm and the springs are just too weak. I bought a "helper" spring set from NAPA but that was absolutly worthless. I recently bought an add-a-leaf kit from jc whitney but it was only an overload spring and the bottom spring on my stack is already an overload spring. It has 2.5" springs so f250 junkyard springs won't fit. What can i do to give it stronger springs? Should i break down and buy 5 leaf springs new from ford? I haven't priced them but i doubt they are cheap. the local NAPA couldn't get springs and said they had to come from ford. Thanks a lot.
