inline 8cyl engine

I was looking at my grandfathers old olsmobile
that has been siting in a fence row for ages, and counted the sparkplugs, and realized that it was an inline, flat head 8. I had never seen or heard of such. I just wondered if it was worth anything, or if the engines were not very sought after. Were they put in trucks? Were they powerful? What is the cubic inches on them???
