Sounds like you may have a vacuum leak or a partially plugged idle circuit in the carburator. Try removing the air cleaner and revving it up. Hold you hand over the air intake to choke it off until just before it stall-sometimes it will pass the obstruction if that is the cause. Also check to make sure that the carb mounting bolts and screws that hold the carb together are tight.
