I drove several IH's with the 466 in them. The LTL company that I worked for used them for city peddle tractors. I drove a combination of city and highway driving pulling a pup trailer loaded anywhere from empty to 30K.
Around town they were great. Tons of low end power even when fully loaded.
However on the highway the 466 just couldn't keep up. Even with an empty trailer the slightest hill would drop the speed significantly (this was with a variety of transmission/rear axle combinations). The 466 just didn't have the top end to keep up with traffic if it had any sort of trailer on it (bobtailing it was fine).

Another thing to consider-the IH's ride...like a truck. If you don't have an air seat the ride is bone jarring even with air suspension. With an air seat it is slightly better but I never did find a truck seat comfortable for a long trip.

Just my opinion, but if you are gonna pull a 5th wheel trailer you might be a lot more comfortable in a 1T Dodge with a Cummins. I have driven my dads with his 5th wheel behind it and it will run down the highway at 80 and not even know the trailer is there. For pure comfort reasons if I had a choice to take a long trip in the IH or the Dodge the Dodge would win hands down.
