Most any HEI unit from a chev V8 will work fine. Get one with the vacuum advance. Avoid the computer models with the extra 4 wire plug. There are little differences in advance weights and springs, but most are close enough to work. best if you can get one for the engine size you have. The HEI needs a 30 amp 12V power supply. The easiest way to do this is to mount a 12V-30 amp acessory relay to the firewall near the distributor and supply power to it from the 12 ga wire and junction block on the left center of the firewall. The original resistor wire that supplied power to the point ign system works well to switch the acessory relay on/off with the ign switch. The original built in HEI coil will work fine. You need a HEI plug wire set and gap the plugs to specs for a HEI equipped engine. Do not try to do an end run around the acessory relay and hook the HEI directly to a terminal in the fuse box. The original ign switch and wiring are not heavy enough to supply the momentary 30 amp draw of the HEI. It will run,but spark voltage will be way down. There is a reason why the stock HEI power supply wireing is 12 ga.
