Gear ratio and diff question on 84 GMC

[ View Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Return to Forum ]

Posted by James on January 23, 2003 at 21:10:48 from (68.35.66.120):

I just dropped a 350 in my 84 GMC 1/2 ton RWD and I have a helluva lot more power than my tired 305. Turns out I can run 1st gear all the way up to 55mph :P My question's are: What gear ratio is in the truck now? What size diff do I have? I figure 3.73's would do the job, but I'm not sure what size diff I have. I'm guessing my gearing now must be somewhere in the 2.XX:1 range.

Thanks,
James
