For fast temporary heat you can't beat a Reddy Heater (torpedo heater), either in propane or kerosene. I heat up the garage then unplug it, it should stay warm for 30+ minutes depending on the the tightness of your garage, insulation, and/or temperature. If you won't have gasoline vapors continuously, this should work fine, just make sure it's vented well before plugging in again. These things put out enough heat that you can be warm with the doors wide open as well. Thermostats are available for times when you have a safer atmosphere.
