I was always a died in the wool GM fan for years and would never drive anything else. GM cars and trucks both and Chevrolet race engines both in the cars and the boats.
I got a bad 83 Chevy 3/4 ton truck and then a troublesome 85 buick Regal and I swore I would never buy another.
I have owned 13 Ford trucks since then and have logged well over 750,000 miles on them. After the poor build quality and general beer can approach to durability of my 2001 F-150 4x4, I may switch back to GM. ( as long as it is not one with the Japanese diesel in it ! )
When it comes to older trucks to restore, I usually prefer the Chevy or GMC's simply because it is easier to find parts for them.
As far as what I like........ anything old, beat up, tired, worn out, needing some TLC and that extra 250 pounds of leaked oil and grease removed...... I am almost as bad about old trucks as I am women and tools. I seldom see any I don't like !
