carb back fires

82 chevy silverado
new carb remanufactered from autozone

installed now backfires. have adjusted still back fires. adjusted to low backfires and shuts off. to high runs fast and back fires.

we are thinking it might be the timing? not for sure though any advice appricated.

350 engine in it 2 barrel carb Marie and mad mechanic at the moment. hehe hubby throwing tools. thanks
