I had a 1980 1/2 ton longbed that had a 350, with a 12 bolt (373 gears) and a three on the tree tranny. I installed a new 4 core radiator,12 inch clutch, and helper overload springs. I've towed 4 horses with all their tack, along with camping gear, all over Colorado. Sometimes I didn't go very fast but I made it. I also had good trailer brakes. The total load (weighed on a local Co-op scales) was close to 8,000 lbs
