RING GEAR AND PINION FROM 78 AND 82 F150 4X4

Posted by ZANE on March 02, 2003 at 07:14:50 from (152.163.188.227):

Will the ring gear and pinion from the 82 fit the chunk in the 78?

I bought two old Ford 4X4s and the ring gear and pinion on the 78 is bad and the one in the 82 is good. I know one is straight axle and the other is twin I beam but they sure do look a lot alike in the differential housings and the wheel hubs rotors and hub locks are identical. I have already used the Warns out of the 82 in the 78 because the Dana's were bad.

I also have the transmission and transfer case and the positive traction out of the 82 that seem in good condition. Are they interchangable too???

Any informaion will be apreciated.

Thanks, Zane
