'86 dodge 4x4

When I was out plowing snow this after noon my four wheel drive quit working. I finished up my drive,drove about six miles plowed my sisters drive, drove about six more miles to plow my father-in-laws drive and could not get the front to lock in. When on the road it was in two high.
Was told that the front hubs were locked in by vacume pressure. If so were dose the vacume line come off the motor at? There is vacume lines comming off the transfer case but can not trace them to the top of the motor. Any ideas? thanks tiny
