Gary, glad you've been able to enjoy our scenery! The truck was north of Lyle, up on the mountain. In fact I had no more than sent my last post when my buddy showed up and asked if I wanted to run up and get it! Seems his Sunday plans did not work out and he was ready for a "Road Trip" So throwing the usual survival fare in the truck (beef jerky, pop and corn nuts) we hit the highway... I was a little surprised to see that the water tank had been mounted on a long and very heavy steel flat bed, so even with the tank removed the truck was pretty heavy. It loaded fine however and we were soon on our way down. It was then that I found out that the rear axle trailer brakes did not work at all! So had to stop three times in as many miles to let the front brakes cool. Except for the white knuckles in crossing that very narrow and what seems like a really long Hood River toll bridge (I appreciated the Dodge dually driver that would not even get on the bridge until I had gotten off) the trip was uneventful and my truck now resides at my little homestead east of Vancouver...So, July 11 in White Salmon huh...you can count me in!..I will be the cuzz'un with the big goofy grin! either cuz of that huge overflowing plate of chicken and potato salad or maybe because I found my Chevy coe for a hundred bucks and a swiss army rifle.....see ya
