You can make a 496 out of one relatively easily, albeit with a lot of cash. Standard intakes will work with an adaptor plate. These are torque engines not RPM engines, the pistons are very heavy! This would be a great 1-2 ton truck powerplant, but if you want to drag race your 1/2 ton with it, think again. You're better off with a 396 due to the lighter pistons and quick engine rev. Or take the $1600 for the stroker crank and the rod and piston money and the HP heads (you probably have either oval or peanut intake heads) and run to the Chevy store for a 502. A lot less hassle and correct selection of the cam will get you a lot more HP per buck.
