Holleys are the easiest carbs I have ever rebuilt. Which model do you have. There are quit a few 4 barrel designs. These carbs are also very tunable and there are some modifications that can be done to make them even easier to tune without taking the carb apart. I agree you should probably get the better gaskets for the bowls. I have never had a gasket just up and fail on the bowls. There are some cork gaskets out there, don't use those. If the kit is a holley kit use the gaskets in it, I think Mr. Gasket if I remember right used to sell the cork bowl gaskets.
