To put a 4 barrel on just about any 6 (except the rare nowdays Pontiac OHC), you need to get a 4 barrel manifold from the aftermarket. They are costly and usually need a kit for installation. And you still have to buy the small 4 barrel carb and air cleaner. It might be possible to adapt a 2 barrel carb to a modified factory manifold. I would do it with a bolt on aluminum adapter and probably enlarge the throttle bore opening as much as possible. Aluminum carves very easily. There might even be a ready made adapter in speed shop catalogues. There were lots of fair sized, uncomplicated 2 barrels made in the late 60's and early 70's that you could probably get almost free. I would get the air cleaner that fits the carb too. If your trucks are stick shifts, this would not be a very complicated modification, but lots tougher with an automatic. I always thought the 300 Six did very well in stock form, at least in a fairly light truck. If you really need a lot more power, it might be easier and cheaper to put in a V8 than to modify a 6 to get equal power. I would check transmission compatability first though. Good luck!
