WHat's the hot setup for a rear end in a '51GMC 1/2 t.?

Got a buddy doing his '51 CHevy pickup hot rod in my shop. HE's got some sort of unidentified 12 bolt chevy rear in it already from the last V8 swap, but he would like to get a posi. Disc Brakes would be nice if he could get a setup with them included from a salvage yard.
Does anyone out there have any ideas for what might fit easily and be readily available at teh junkyards?
I beleive it is 55 inches between the backing plate mountings currently.
