G-man, the rear you are asking about is the Eaton/corp rear. Probably the HO52...the HO72 was in the one tons...very close cousins.
This is in fact a pretty good rear, however, if you ever scatter one, you'll pay through the nose on getting any replacement parts. Your gear choises are pretty limited, as are the actual parts that you'll be able to find. There was a locker option, and with the right amount of $$ you can probably get a new one.
I would run it untill you have a problem, and then either go with the 14 bolt, or a dana. The danas can be found with a 3.54 (ish) gear in the dodges quite commonly, and with that kind of torque numbers, you'll be better off with the lower RPMs of that gear ratio.
Of course, you could always just spend the 1500 or so on the eaton/Corp rear...it will last another 30 - 40 years most likely.
