Front Clip for a 1962 Mercury

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with taking a front part of a frame off of a 79 Ford and attaching it to the front of a 62 Mercury 1/2 ton. It would give me an updated front end on an older truck and I could use the moter and trans. Any thoughts on how to attach it as I thought welding it together would work if I plated it together. The other thought was to use the 79 frame but I would have to shorten it to fit the 62. Thanks.
