I have heard the canopy referred to as a shell. This one is flush with the truck roof at the front then goes up about 9 inches on the way back. Has windows all round. What we call a camper is the kind that you can stand up in and has the bed over the top of the cab. We have an older camper, but it creates a lot of wind resistance and is a lot heavier. I'm gonna built a tent out the back and to one side of the canopy and it will work well for camping in warmer weather. Can put the fishing boat on top. BC Mike C
