Value of 55 Chevy PU truck with rare factory autoPosted by Rick H. Ga. on May 12, 2003 at 12:38:57 from (167.196.213.157): Hi All, I frequently post messages on the Ford 9N, 2N, & 8N tractor board but have never posted on the classic trucks board. I have a 1955 (?) Chevy ½ ton PU that needs restoring. I bought it last year with the intention of restoring it but it looks like I don’t have the time now or in the foreseeable future. So, I am thinking about selling it as a parts truck or restoration project. It has excellent restoration potential in my opinion. It is not wrecked, beat-up or eat-up with rust. The glass is good except for the passenger side door window. The hood, fenders, cab and bed are excellent. The rear end is seized but the straight six-cylinder engine spins over but is not running. The dash and interior are in better than average condition. The truck is complete but partially dissembled as the previous owner had started the restoration. My son, who messes with hot rods, told me that the truck was rare because of the factory hydromantic automatic transmission. Can anyone elaborate on this? I told my son what I thought I would ask for the truck and he said I might be selling it way too cheap. Thanks. Rick H. Ga.
