I would suggest that you check the centrifigual advance in the distributor to see if it is free. It allows it to crank without kicking back, then advances (same as model T ford with the spark lever) Some distributors are bad about sticking when left parked for awhile. GM HEI ignitions are notorious. They won't "pull the hat off your head"Check your firing order again. Ford wassubject to install gear driven cams and chain driven cams in the same block for different applications. Go to your firing order, then, go to the exact opposite side of the cap, turn the engine quarter turns, the exhaust should be closing and the intake should begin openning at eaxh quarter turn increment. These are the exact opposite of the pistons firing. Good luck.
