Brainstorm!! (may be dangerous)Posted by geb on June 13, 2003 at 07:04:59 from (209.215.122.208):
I am wanting something heavier than a pickup to pull my gooseneck with and would like to have a older truck to do it with. However I would like to have a late model diesel and automatic transmission drive train. I've come up with the ideal of finding a school bus with an IH DT466 engine and Allison tranmission and takeing the entire body off the chassis. I think I can find a late 50's IH two ton truck cab and put it back on the later model chassis. I will have to shorten the chassis and change the gear ratio in the rear end. Is this feasible or is my brainstorm way out of proportion. Has anyone done anything similar?
