Smoked the clutchPosted by BC Mike C on June 17, 2003 at 21:30:29 from (24.67.253.203):
Was picking up hay with the stock trailer, can get 100 bales inside, that's about 10500 pounds of trailer and hay. From a stop and starting up a bit of a hill I gave it a bunch of gas and let the clutch out a bit quicker than usual and it went Bzzzzzzzzzzzz. Thought a wheel was spinning but the smell of the burning clutch changed my mind. Now I have to think about will it last until November when I was gonna yank the engine and gearbox and rebuild them, or pull the gearbox now and put a new clutch in it. I have only done about 30,000 km on this clutch. It was shuddering a bit which was a real pain. That's my story. Put 100 bales of hay in the barn today and there is 100 in the trailer to put in tomorrow. My truck is a 78 Chev 3/4 ton with a 350. BC Mike C
