Edelbrock Carb Problems

I have a new Edelbrock 600cfm 1406 carb on a 1979 460 Ford F250 Supercab. Ran fine for a few weeks then started getting hard starts and smoke at startup eventually started smoking at idle. Any suggestions as to how to tune these problems out are greatly appreciated
