I drove an early 80's FORD F-700 single axle semi tractor that had an 8.2L Detroit & 5+2 transmission & rear axle. Real nice truck to drive, Kinda like an F-150 with air brakes....Engine kept having injector problems and would turn itself into a V-7, then V-6... Better engines are avail. With enough gears it would handle a 20,000# load O-K, not fast but steady. Tractor drove got about 7 MPG which I thought was fairly good. I understand the last few years 3208 CAT's were made that they were a real good engine, and DT-466 IH's are hard to beat in a medium duty truck.
