1977 Chevy with GMC 350 engine backfires need help
Posted by ThatOtherGuy on July 08, 2003 at 18:00:12 from (18.104.22.168):
I have a 1977 Chevy 3/4 ton 4X4 that I recently placed a 1979 GMC Jimmy 350 engine in it. The engine has Edelbrock carb, intake, a mild cam, Accel coil and plug wires, and headers. Funny thing is (i'm not laffing) ever since the engine has been put in the chevy I've had problems. The thing keeps popping and backfiring no matter how you time it. I've change the coil, cap, rotor, plug wires, checked the timing chain, it still runs rough. I mean, the thing ran excellent before it was pulled! I was wondering since that engine is a GMC, maybe some things are different than a Chevy 350 and that might have something to do with it (my book is for a Chevy 350). Any ideas?
