Thats excellent advice from Bob. I rebuilt my 91 E4OD, to make sure it would make a trip pulling my MF Super 90 tractor, but it failed on a steep hill. I replaced the forward planetary then it wants to take off in a gear higher than first. The scanner said "shift solenoid #1 circuit failure", I traced it to shorted diodes on the circuit board. You can learn a lot by typing in E4OD on a search engine ie GOOGLE etc.
