Got an old dumptruck the hoist leaks down quick. It is a converto hoist and bed.It has a welded cylender with the pump mounted on the bottom of it. Can I put gear oil in it to slow down the leak down?.Will it pump the gear oil? I haul grain with it and have to hold the bed about half way up to unload. I've been carrying a 4x4 about 3 feet long to hold the bed up but thats to dangerous. It only needs to stay up for about two minutes. As it is it leaks down in about 30 to 45 seconds from half way up.
thanks guys.
