The Torque converter shouldn't be turning the flywheel at all.
I would get one more scrap yard fly wheel, and then leave the inspection cover off when you are done. Lay under the truck (while it is on jack stands) and have some one start it while you look at the fly wheel turning. Removiong the coil wire may help since it won't start and it'll spin way slower.
See if the fly wheel wobbles. If so, it is time for a new crank...or a junk yard engine.
