Hello all of you truck buffs,I have a few questions that I know some knowledgable person can answer. I recently bought an 83 Silverado. I tried to switch tanks without knowing when the last time or if the right tank had ever been used. Well, the selector valve did not work. I removed and replaced the valve but think I got one of the feed lines crossed. To add to my problems, the automatic choke, vaccuum advance and carb were just not working correctly. I ended up having a fire when the fuel dumped onto the intake manifold. I am replacing the wiring harness, Carb and all else that needs replacing. I need assistance with the following info.
1. Why are there 2 feed lines coming from the tanks? When this is not a fuel injected vehicle?
2. Which line is the actual feed line? What is the other line feed line for?
3. How are the lines hooked up into the selector valve?
4. Which type of new carb would you recommend for everyday driving' Electric choke or manual?
5. What is the advantage of each carb?
6. Last but not least would anyone happen to have an under the hood wirng diagram for idiots?
I would appreciate any assistance I could get. Thanks.
