Ok I found out that signal stat is owned by truck lite so I call them and they were able to give me the wiring diagram. In the process I have discovered that the signal unit is no good that is why it was hooked up as it was. I have sence bought a new chromed switch and hooked it up and all is fine now. Thanks to everyone for there help. It goes to show that these forums work.
