'82 F-350 transmission swap

I am wondering if a 5 speed from a larger truck (F-500/600) could go into my truck. It has a 400M with a 4 speed currently. I do not want an overdrive, but rather to have gears closer together. I pull a 25' gooseneck trailer with a Case 580D backhoe, or 2 pulling tractors with weights. Has anyone done this? What is involved?
