Re: 1971 chevy truck, coil to leaf springsPosted by G-MAN on September 17, 2003 at 10:54:00 from (67.52.48.10): In Reply to: 1971 chevy truck, coil to leaf springs posted by tony france on September 12, 2003 at 17:20:43:
If it's an issue with rusted out trailing arms, LMC has just about every part you need to rebuild the entire rear suspension, including the arms and the panhard rod. I was originally looking for a leaf-spring C-20, but found a coil-spring '72, and I wouldn't trade the coils for anything. It has heavy-duty coils front and rear with the rear overloads. Even with a pretty decent-running stock 350 4-Bbl, TH 350 and 4.56s, it hooks hard enough that I can barely turn over a tire. It also rides pretty nice. I did locate a '72 Custom Camper frame with the Dana and coils, and I plan on swapping that in to improve my gear ratio. I like the way it runs, but I'm tired of seeing my tach at 3000 rpm at 60 mph.
