Why is my front left brake doing this?Posted by Bart Lane on September 20, 2003 at 08:15:17 from (12.228.148.98): I have a 4WD Suburban, 1989. I did a pad stuff up front because the rotors "looked" fine and I had no warpage issue. The pistons compressed easily. The calipers were in good shape. I cleaned and lubed the brake pins. The pads went in to place nicely. Basically it was one of the easiest pad swaps I've ever done with no issues arising. But after I drive it a while it starts going, SHHH SHHHHH SHHHH with a noise each revolution of the wheel with your foot off the pedal. You can start to smell burning pad material and things get very hot. I ripped the wheel off immediately after a drive and the rotor spun nicely and I just couldn't see anything wrong. The piston was not froze but the pads were obviously cooked in places and untouched in others. The smell was horrible. The old pads had no problems other than being low. What is causing this?
