Engine Noise--HELP

[ View Follow Ups ] [ Post Followup ] [ Return to Forum ]

Posted by Jon Z. on September 22, 2003 at 11:09:20 from (68.99.112.40):

I have a '62 Ford Unibody with a 233 straight six. I have adjusted the valves and have had a trusted mechanic adjust them. I still get what sounds like tappet noise when coasting. If I'm accelerating or decelerating, it doesn't make the noise. I know it's not the rods because it doesn't knock when under load. Someone told me it might be the rocker arm shaft(s) are worn. Any ideas???
