A GOOD manual transmission (not a Mazda 5 speed) will last longer then most trucks. As for the life of a truck, if it gets driven like a car and has all highway miles must 92 full size PUs will easily last 200K an beyond. If you go slogging through the feedlot caring big round bales of hay with your foot to the floor it is shot at less then 100K. Saw an old 75 Ford F100 sell a couple years ago that only had about 40K on it, the guy that bought it paid a pretty penny for it's mint condition. Only problem was the engine and transmission where shot. Appearantly the 80 year old man that owned it had a habit of starting it and driving to the mail box, shutting it off and waiting for the mail and then restarting to drive down the driveway - about 50 yards. 20 plus years of this and other short little trips had scarred all the pistons up and mucked up the auto transmission. He got a good unrusted body out of the deal but spent some real money overhauling the old 390 and C6 tranny.
