It will work, just make sure you pull the equipment forward - as close to the cab as possible. It will carry it better and go down the road a lot better. We had an old '67 Ford F600 with a short frame and a 16' grain bed on it. With all the weight hanging beyond the rear axle it could get awfully squirrely on roads with a high crown (like most gravel raods are).
