If you can fit an extra slave cylinder you might make it work. Does an 86 have an external slave cyllinder or is it the type that fits on the trans input shaft. Every hydraulic clutch I have seen is made for brake fluid,and power steering fluid will quickly destroy the seals in the slave cylinder. If you have room you could fit a power brake booster between the clutch pedal linkage and clutch master cylinder.
With your bum knee,you might be better off if you switch to an automatic trans and give your poor left knee nothing to do.
