i am not sure if the input shaft is the same. i have a 79 ford L600(basicly the same drivetranin as F series, just different cab)and it has a 429 motor. i know that the pilot on the shaft is larger an i believe the splines are also. a friend of mine just had the tranny out of a truck with a 400 in it and i know that the shafts were not exactly the same. if you could make it work you would have a great setup. i had thought about doing something like this in my 84 F350 but then i got my L600 so i wont be using my F350 for real heavy trailering and hauling anymore.
