Sounds like you just need a bigger truck. If you are pulling a backhoe around you need a bigger truck than a one ton. You may pull it, but the first time grandmaw stops in front of you it will all be over just bend over between your legs, and kiss your tail goodbye. My recomendation is a older C50, of a ford 5 or 600.
The F500 seems to be what you would need because offers the 1 ton ride, with the big truck stopping, and handiling ability. These trucks will also offer you a 2spd rear end for the gear splitting that you want for your heavy loads.
