Hi reving problem.

My 1988 Jeep Commanche P/U is equipped with a4litre inline 6cyl gasoline engine. On cold starts, it revs up to over 3,000 RPM (My humble estimate) for about a minute before slowing down to a faster than normal idle rpm . The problem is also present at operating temp on subsequent star-ups. It is fuel injected. Thanks for any help on this one
