The 292 chevy six has the same bell housing bolt pattern as a small block V-8.

The other six's have a different pattern. As do the big block V-8's.

In the older ones, instead of using a tranny crossmember, the bell housing had mounts(pads) to the frame.

On any type of motor swap besides the original, use the starter from the swap engine. I believe the 52 would still have floor manual starter pedal. Mechanical direct linkage to the solenoid vs the electrical one of newer configuration. Attempting to get the linkage right with a V-8 conversion IMO would be a nightmare. Much easier going the electrical route.
