Unless someone swapped out already, it would the "screaming eagle" (hehe) 318, the 8-71. About the only thing I can nice about that motor is it has a great blower on it....LOL. Depending tho on what you want to use it for, the 318 will give you decent performance. Thing to remember on the 71 series Detroits, oil leakage is the norm. When the leakage starts to stop, compression is low and it's time for a rebuild.
