1949 Chevrolet truck questions.

Posted by greenbeanman on November 18, 2003 at 11:50:25 from (171.75.202.231):

I have a 1949 Chevrolet 3800 series truck that is my primary vehicle. It currently needs some TLC.

I would like to replace the turn door handles with the thumb push button kind. Will I need to replace the entire door, or is it a simple replacement of just the handle?

How readily are latch parts. The doors were ill adjusted and sagging long before I got the truck, hence the latch plates are nearly worn out, as are the door latches themselves. Are these readily available?

I would expect that floormats are widly available, but I dont' have a clue as to where to start.
Perhaps a "classic truck" magazine from off of a magazine rack?

I'd really appreciate some Chevrolet parts sources as well a the name of a good book on restoration/changes.

Thanks!
