Not real up on tranny oil but i imagine it is about the same as engine oil in this respect.

Organic oil totaly breaks down at about 300 degrees, remember thats metal temprature not oil your oil will be cooler than the actual friction surfaces.

Anything nearing 300 degrees needs synthetic oil to even function with any life expectancy.

The cooler you can run it the better, at 200 your tranny will last more than four times as long as at 250 and like 10 times as long as 300. (It is a non linear function)
