Sounds like the very best thing you could do drive your f-5, a lot, that's the best thing for sticky valves. Heat is a bad problem on an 8ba when you pep one up a bit or any flathead for that matter.You can get a booster off of an f-6 for your brakes. I have a 46 with pto cover, my brother has a 46 & a 49 with pto and hoist. I have never seen a trans. without a pto hole but would'nt rule it out. My brother parted out a 49 f-5 that had pto on it and still has trans. and pto he might get rid of. You get your truck up in shape and it will do anything you ask of it except cruise well on the interstate and if you really want to go fast they did offer an OD trans. for these trucks but I have never seen one,just literature.You could also put in an auxilary trans to get a little more speed.
